You're definitely right. I'm interested in watching these both in that context and from the perspective of someone today. Because, even though it's very progressive for the time, it's also this cultural document from the Mad Men era. I mean, look at the skirts. Though I'm glad that even in the sixties future, it's not okay to slap Yeoman Rand on the butt!

Oh, I'm loving this Dan. Yes, I'm old enough to be around to have watched the original airings of Star Trek and even though I don't remember (I was 3, but thanks to babysitting uncles, I was tuned in from the comfort of my bassinet) I was there.

One of the things I think you might have missed during the review for Charlie X is the context of the times. Charlie represented the generation that was just making its voice heard in the mid-sixties. These kids had grown up having everything handed to them and yet when they approached adulthood, society was asking them to make the ultimate sacrifice for something they really didn't understand. The result was rebellion in the form of sex and drugs, a way to take the power back for themselves.

Looking forward to more.

Grats on your weight loss! I definitely think mixing it up with different games is a good plan - honestly, I think I will give Wii Fit another try somewhere down the line, and I actually still use the Wii Fit channel to weigh in each week! When it all comes down to it, I definitely agree - playing video games definitely beats going to the gym!

I lost about 7 lbs in January and the first week of February from a combination of eating better and playing Wii Fit, Dance Central, and Jillian Michaels Fitness Ultimatum 2009. I can totally get your complaints about the repetitiveness of Wii Fit, but compared to Fitness Ultimatum, it's such a diverse and actually fun game. That's definitely the appeal for me over the grind of the gym -- having fun. I used to box as a teenager, so Rythm Boxing and boxing on Kinect Sports are some of my favorites.

Of course, ever since Dan's BFF visited from the 9th-13th, my exercise schedule has been sidelined. I need to get that motivation to get back into it! 1-1.5lbs a week doesn't sound like a lot, but if I keep it up, I might be able to lose a good 20 lbs before my wedding in July. Must find the strength to get back on track!
