Geek News: Skyrim Secures All-Format Christmas Top Spot

Well, in the UK at least. Yes, we’re talking about that game again. We admit that a good four people on staff (myself included) are hopelessly addicted to Bethesda’s veritable beast of a game that has sucked more hours out of us than even we care to admit. By the looks of it, so is most of England.

Despite an eight percent drop in sales according to UKIE, Skyrim has still got its claws firmly into the great British public and has done the seemingly impossible of ending EA and Activision’s eight year long reign over the coveted Christmas Video Game pole position in the UK All-Format charts.

Ousted, Activision now resides – aptly – in third place with their third outing, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, with Ubisoft in second with Just Dance 3.

So yeah, if you’re a fellow gaming Brit who has yet to receive the blessing of Skyrim, according to the odds, this’ll more than likely be waiting under the tree or menorah or whatever your preference. Or, if you’re stuck for a gift idea, this is a safe stake. Either way, don’t expect to get your lunch on time.
