Dining Review: Exclusive Dining With Bob

This article was a collaboration between Cape Rust and a new and unusual contributor, Bob. Bob is a guest of the federal government in an undisclosed location. Bob is a long time geek whose interests include computers and table-top RPGs. However, due to unreasonable facility regulations, Bob can’t pursue his RPG hobby. To enjoy his hobby, he has been forced to exercise the principals of Improvise, Adapt and Overcome. Since the time of writing, Bob has been transferred and we are not sure when we’ll hear from Bob next, but any questions you might have about life on the inside should be sent care of cape@geek-life.com.

The specialty at this unique dining facility is chicken. All types of chicken, including the road-kill variety. They prepare leg and thigh quarters by baking, boiling, frying, oven frying, currying, barbecuing, Mexican’ing and Jamaican jerking, and if you are lucky, all at once. Any requests for Kentucky fried simply elicit smiles for the staff. The creative culinary masters working there cleverly hide the leftover bits of chicken, including selected bones in such classic cafeteria and summer camp favorites as chow mien, lo mien, fried rice, potpies, tacos and fajitas. They also serve the old McDonalds parts-is-parts nuggets that come with expertly prepared sauces, including the choice of barbecue, catsup, mayo or mustard. The breaded chicken patty is a new and interesting take on a frozen favorite. This unique recipe contains more bread than meat. What a creative reversal of an otherwise bland dish. Occasionally, they serve grilled chicken breast, Parmesan chicken and deviating from the chicken dominated menu, chicken fried steak. The beauty of the chicken fried steak is that it tastes exactly like the chicken patty. In a stroke of gastronomical genius, the staff happily serves a choice of beans, rice or potatoes, sometimes all three, to complete this amazing dining experience.

As for the decor, the facility gives you a feeling of security. It is tastefully decorated in the institutional style. The price of a meal is quite steep and you can’t get away with eating here just once. Many customers dine here exclusively for many years – joining the dinner club is easy, leaving is not.
