Geek News: New DLC for Left 4 Dead Titles

Coming somewhat out of the blue, Valve yesterday announced plans to release a new DLC pack for both “Left 4 Dead”, and its sequel, “Left 4 Dead 2”.

Scheduled for release on October 5th, “The Sacrifice”, further bridges the story between the two games, acting as a prequel to the previous DLC, “The Passing”.

The new content offers a three-map co-op campaign and sees you and your party play as the survivors from the original game, expanding on their side of the story of how the two groups met up at the end of the first L4D 2 DLC. This time around, you’ll be able to decide which member of the original cast meets their maker, a retcon of sorts from the established canon.

Knowing their fanbase well, Valve are also bundling a four-part digital comic that depicts who “actually” sacrifices themselves, as shown in “The Passing”. Another added bonus is Valve porting the “No Mercy” campaign from the original game, to the sequel; plus, the old gang will be able to use all of the new weapons, including melee, introduced in the sequel.

“The Sacrifice” will cost 560 Microsoft Point, whereas it’ll be free for both PC and Mac users.
