Apparently, this is something that is either rolling out in different places at different times — or who knows? — but Google has made a change to the way that their image search results show up.
Basically, the idea is to make searching for images an easier, more streamlined experience. The new Google image search sports a tiled layout that makes it easier to look at many images at once. It also scrolls automatically from page to page without the user having to press a “next” hyperlink. If you hover over an image, it zooms in a bit and gives you a little information; and if you click on an image to go to the page, the preview is much larger and shows up in a pop-up type element in the middle of the page.
Here’s a look at what it looks like, in case you still haven’t had a chance to see it first hand:
Yeah, I did a search for my people — gingers. Except Carrot Top; we gingers reject him as our king. Back to the topic, however, the new image search is very nice, indeed. For more information on the inspiration for this change in the way Google image search works, check out Google’s blog.
