Syfy Summer Kicks Off Tonight
Many of our favorite television shows have begun the months-long period of summer hibernation — but thankfully, if you want to get your fill of new sci-fi, the Syfy Channel has taken up the challenge of entertaining the masses with new seasons of fan-favorite shows, and a few new shows as well.
Three familiar series return for new seasons this summer — starting with Warehouse 13, which premieres tonight at 9/8c. Later on this week, everyone’s favorite sheriff of the world’s quirkiest town returns for the summer with the season premiere of Eureka on Friday, July 9th, also at 9/8c. Finally, next week on Wednesday, July 14th, Syfy welcomes the return of Ghost Hunters International. I personally think that the latter of these three is kind of silly, to be honest, but Warehouse 13 and Eureka are both fantastic sci-fi shows that are definitely worth watching. Hopefully we’ll be hearing more about them from Dan in his blog, Surfing SF.
Along with the return of old favorites, Syfy is premiering three new shows. The first, which premieres this Friday at 10/9c, right after Eureka, is Haven. Based on the novella The Colorado Kid by (in)famous horror author Stephen King, the show centers around FBI agent Audrey Parker (Played by Jericho’s Emily Rose), who arrives in the sleepy town of Haven, Maine on a routine case but soon finds that not everything in Haven is what it appears to be.
Premiering next week, on Thursday, July 15th at 9/8c, is the paranorma show Mary Knows Best. This reality TV show will focus around medium Mary Occhino and her family as they deal with the every-day trials of Mary being in 24/7 contact with the spirit world.
The third and final show premiering this summer, at 10/9c right after Mary Knows Best is the new show Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files. A team of professionals, led by former FBI agent Ben Hansen will investigate paranormal cases and determine if their is evidence of supernatural activity, or if the case is a fake.
With so many new shows and new seasons beginning in the next few weeks, the Syfy summer promises to be a very busy one.
