Geek News: Sony Recall Called Off?

Sony sunk our battle-ship. As reported earlier, Sony were set to recall thousands of Vaio laptops due to a technical fault leading to overheating.

However, in the last hour, a rep for Sony UK spoke to Computeractive magazine, putting the kibosh on the recall story.

Instead, Sony’s solution is software rather than hardware, suggesting affected customers flash their BIOS with a firmware update “specially designed to prevent the potential overheating.”

Sony’s advice and details can be found on their website.

Geek-Life’s advice still stands, mind – get a Mac.
